Weather forecast said it’s snowing in Tokyo this weekend but not much yet. That reminds me of this old Carole King song cover by me.
Yep, I know the lyrics are not about snow, this is probably about a specific lady who has cold heart like snow queen (lyrics were written by Gerry Goffin, not by Carole). Filled with very 60s-like literary metaphors that can be interpreted in many ways, I like it.
But before that, I wanted to cover this song precisely because I like this melody too much and also wanted to investigate this complex chorus work formation.

今週末、東京にも雪が積もるって予報だったけれどもその気配は無く…。でもそれで、このキャロル・キングの古い曲のカバーを思い出した。僕のひとり多重録音です。
この歌詞、雪のことを歌っているように見えてそうではなく、実は雪の女王のように冷たいハートを持った、ある具体的な女性のことを書いているっぽい（作詞はキャロルでなく、ジェリー・ゴフィン）。60年代らしい文学的な比喩に富んでいて、いろいろな解釈ができて好きな歌詞です。
でもその前にまず、この曲のメロディーが昔から好きすぎて、ここまで念入りにカバーしてしまいました。この複雑なコーラスワークを分析したかった、ってこともあります。
「雪は降らねど心は凍えそう。で、素敵なメロに癒されたい」
