The 3 men didn’t have much live shows like their former bands but concentrated on self-recordings. Several songs recorded during the period were aired on Inter FM (Tokyo) program “Beyond The Charts” (“Sausage” in Feb. 2000, “Plum Baby” in Mar. 2000, “Inner flight” in Jun. 2001) selected by DJ, Mr. Steve McClure, Billboard’s Asia bureau chief.

A few years later, go green has shifted to Kenji’s solo recording project, sometimes with guest players. Almost all of the songs were produced at a small apartment in Tokyo and go green pursued the possibilities of so-called “bedside recording” by powerful rhythms, crunchy guitars and floating melodies.

３人のメンバーはそれまでいたバンドのようにライブはそれほど行わず、自身の手によるレコーディング作業に集中した（初期のテイクは４トラックのカセットレコーダー＋DATのピンポンで録られている）。その頃にレコーディングされたものの数曲は、Inter FM（東京）のBeyond The Chartsという番組でOAされた。DJはビルボードのAsia Bureau ChiefであるSteve McClure氏（楽曲は「Sausage」「Plum Baby」「Inner Flight」）。

数年の後、go greenはKenjiのソロ・ロック・レコーディングユニットへと移行した。ほぼ全ての曲が東京の小さな部屋で録音、プロデュースされており、go greenはパワフルなリズム、クランチーなギターに漂うメロディーで、いわゆる「ベッドサイド・レコーディング」の可能性を追求して行く。

The sound was originally inspired from the mid-to-late Beatles and 70s rock (Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Rush, Yes, Queen, UFO, The Police, etc), also the influence of 90s rock scene (madchester, grunge, shoegazing, powerpop) were combined. Rhythms were heavy and tight, left the taste of funk groove especially influenced by The Stone Roses and Soul Coughing. Lyrics were apparently seemed like love song but involved deep human minds between joy and sorrow. Or sometimes made no sense at all. These styles are still flowing as blood of go green sound.

go greenの音、そのルーツは元々ビートルズの中期～後期と70年代のロック（レッド・ツェッペリン、チープ・トリック、ラッシュ、イエス、クイーン、ポリス等）にあり、これと90年代のロックシーン（マッドチェスター、グランジ、シューゲイザー、パワーポップ）のエッセンスが合体したものでできあがっている。リズムはヘビー＆タイトな８ビートが基本だが、特にストーン・ローゼス、ソウル・コフィングの影響によるファンク、グルーヴのテイストも色濃く残っている。歌詞は一見普通のラブソング、しかし裏に人間の喜びや哀しみに揺れる気持ちが織り込まれていたり、全然意味のない内容だったり。そういったスタイルはgo greenサウンドの血として、未だに受け継がれている。
