Hot hot summer in Tokyo seems to be coming to the end. Today, I went to Mori Art Museum in Roppongi to see the exhibition “Japan in Architecture”. Walking in pouring rain from the station, I felt the wind has been changed from summer. Yes, it happens every year around my bday, but this year was extremely so hot that it made me feel like this might not come forever!

Anyway,  autumn=museum… Traditional timberwork is simple, but beautiful, strong, sublime and organic like cells. That features cannot be shown by pics or videos, should be felt directly from each work. And looking at some precise handwritten drawing by the architects, I felt music composing, with the beat of four on the floor.

暑い暑い東京の夏も、ようやく終わりを迎えたようですね。今日は六本木の森美術館へ「建築の日本展」を見に行きました。どしゃ降りの雨の中を駅から会場へ歩きながら、風が夏から変わったのを感じました。そう、それって毎年誕生日のころに感じていたことなんだけれども、今年はあまりに暑い日の連続だったので、このまま永遠にやってこないの⁉︎と思っていたくらいで(笑)

ともかく、秋＝美術館ってことで…。伝統的な木組みの技術はシンプルで、しかも美しく、たくましく、荘厳で、細胞のように有機的である。それはやはり写真や動画じゃなく、リアルに目の前で見ることで、初めて肌で感じられるものだと思いました。そして、建物だけでなく時代をも作った建築家たちの精密な手描きの図面なんかを目を凝らして見ながら、4つ打ちのビートを踏みながら曲を作っている自分の光景と、「そこでその精密さをあきらめんじゃねーぞ」という声が聞こえたような気がしました。
